At board level, the quality of governance ultimately depends on the quality of judgment. Board Leadership is a one-day executive experience for senior leaders who already operate — or are preparing to operate — where an organisation’s most consequential decisions are made.
The module goes inside the boardroom to examine the judgment, dynamics and behaviours that distinguish effective Boards. How do you challenge management without undermining it? How do you make sound decisions when information is incomplete and the consequences are significant? How should a Board navigate competing interests and divergent perspectives? And how can individual expertise be transformed into better collective judgment?
Through board-level dilemmas, strategic decision frameworks and practical tools, participants will explore how effective directors:
- exercise judgment under uncertainty and incomplete information;
- challenge assumptions and management constructively;
- balance oversight, support and strategic involvement;
- navigate disagreement, competing interests and difficult boardroom dynamics;
- contribute effectively as individual directors while strengthening collective decision-making;
- recognise how behaviour, influence and group dynamics shape the quality of Board decisions.
The day is designed around discussion, application and real boardroom situations, creating space for experienced leaders to test their judgment and reflect on how they contribute when the answer is not obvious.
